Leighton Bookhout, my dad, made quick work of opening day and brought home this fine looking tom. Weighed in at 22 pounds and sports 1 1/2" spurs! Dad likes to do things the hard (and fun) way. He got this bird with an old muzzleloader that dates prior to 1834. Not bad Dad!

From Dad---The gun is an original, circa 1820's smoothbore flintlock fowling piece, made in Dublin by Murphey. It is approximately 14 gauge. The 1 and 1/2 inch spurs qualify the turkey as a "genuine limbhanger".
